Consumers Energy has pursued the coal plant even though the Michigan Public Service Commission concluded that there are many good alternatives, and several recent studies show the benefits of adopting them. This is your chance to ask them to support clean energy, not dirty coal.

This year, the Preservation of Antibiotics for Medical Treatment Act of 2009 (PAMTA) (S. 619, H.R. 1549) was reintroduced and is currently endorsed by numerous medical and public health organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Nurses Association. PAMTA is vital federal legislation that would help end the use of important human antibiotics in the feed and water of animals that are not sick.
We are asking for your individual support by adding your name to Health Care Without Harm's Health Practitioner Petition in support of PAMTA. Your voice, the voice of healthcare professionals, is essential to help this common sense legislation. |

Governor Granholm hears a great deal from coal industry advocates throughout Michigan. Now, we urge you to help us create a movement for clean energy by sending the message below to Governor Granholm.

 |
Despite all of your emails to your representatives against coal, and despite the Governor's support of clean energy initiatives, and despite the fact that it's been shown we don't need new coal plants, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality recently approved a controversial permit for a proposed Consumers Energy new coal-fired power plant!
We've made it easy for you to contact your local newspaper with your views, but editors want to hear from you in your own words.
